επιτελους πηρα τα εισιτηρια και 1-5 οκτωβρη θα παω γερμανια να παρακολουθησω το betta show του EHBBC(European Halfmoon Betta Breeding Club) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

γυρισα χτες το απογευμα και ακομα προσπαθω ν'ανανηψω!!!ηταν πραγματικα τελεια!θα ανεβασω αργοτερα και φωτο(εβγαλα 170!!!!!!!)μου χαρισαν(ναι,δεν πληρωσα τιποτα)3 ζευγαρια,πηρα τα 2 μαζι και το ενα θα μου το στειλουν ταχυδρομικως.ηδη φαινονται καλυτερα κι ενα εχει φτιαξει και φωλια!!!
α!και ειμαι πλεον επισημα μελος του EHBBC club!!!!

Our 4. Exhibition in Duisburg, an Event of the superlative!



Our 4. show took place within the aquarium fair of the company Zajac, whom we here again cordially thank for the invitation, in Duisburg. Our booth was exactly visavis the entrance in the 6000qm large hall and had a considerable size of 48 qm, which were also really necessary within the daily accomplished auctions.

It was a great challenge for us, because it gave us the chance to present our club, our hobby and naturally primarily our fish to a large mixed public. Again over 200 fish, which also due to our new acquisition (the heating mats) were in absolute show mood, of breeders from Germany, which the Netherlands, Belgium, Thailand, and Singapore were shown and evaluated by the judges. At Friday noon the winners could be presented to the interested public.

Subsequently, then the first award ceremonies were performed, watched interested by the public, which was already waiting for the auction.

Particularly they were looking at the large challenge cup for the breeder with most placements, which we assigned the first time on this exhibition. And the first, which was allowed to take this cup for its outstanding breeding results in receipt, was Joep van Esch from the Netherlands.

The absolute highlights were however the several times daily taking place auctions, which our member Kathrin Maas with her partner Marc held very professionally.

During the auctions, which were accompanied partial by guffaws of laughter, all visitors could admire the fish in full action on a large screen, because Marc filmed it with a camera and the picture was transferred by a Beamer.

Between the award ceremonies and auctions the opportunity was offered for the visitors, to inform themselves by our members over our club, about the fish, their attitude conditions, their breed and raising, and in addition, about the standard and the fin forms. Thus many prejudices could be eliminated and many continued their way and suddenly saw our fish with other eyes.
It was exactly the same with the reporter from WDR3 (German Television), who actually only wanted to report over Guppy-Championat, which was taking place at same time in the hall; she could not experience enough at all and was astonished ever more.

To 10 visitors the “Bettafewer” passes on, so that we now can welcome them as new members in our club. Even from Greece one had specially travelled to this event.

Many, many fish changed their owners in our auctions and we wish the new owners much joy and success with their new treasures.


In the evening, despite the arduous days there was still time remained for a cosy gathering, much fun and interesting discussions.

Also Mr. Zajac, who invited all participants of the fair on the next to last evening to a little drink, was pleased of our fish and also of our booth so well, that he invited us directly again for the coming year.

Finally we can only say that this exhibition again was a full success, also owing to the industrious aids. It was a perfectly new experience and we are proud on the fact that everything worked so well.

European Halfmoon Betta Breeders Club e.V.

The EHBBC e.V. was founded at 05. october 2003 by seven breeders from Germany and Switzerland to offer all lovers of the Betta Splendens high breed forms in Germany and Europe a homeland and a platform. Fast we had reached over 50 members, what confirmed us in our work.
In the meantime our members come from many European states and we have friendly contacts to wellknown breeders from the whole world. So we are also a Chapter of the IBC in USA. We also engage us for the nature protection and are member in the BNA (federation for nature and protection of species).

A membership in the EHBBC e.V. offers many advantages.

1. 2 evaluation shows per year with international judges
2. Smaller starting fees with the exhibitions (50% reduction for each fish)
3. for issuing members no entrance fee to the shows
4. more favourable purchase of aquarian accessories from our partners
5. Simpler purchase of substantial breeder accessories (single container, dispatch boxes, Heatpacks o.a. over
collective orders)
6. Purchase of a planned quarterly info sheet, which soon will be converted into a member newspaper.
7. Possibility to participate in topic-oriented working groups
8. Especially for beginners: Consultation and help by experienced breeders
9. Linking of the own web page under breeder links on the ehbbc web page
10. Access to internally good breeding pairs (second -, third mating)
11. By the connection to the IBC, entrance to international shows and to articles from IBC archives.
